When is Festive Friday?

Festive Friday is taking place on Friday 18 November in Truro City Centre.

What to expect from Festive Friday

Festive Friday celebrates the start of the festive season in Truro and the main event is the city’s Christmas Lights Switch-on.

From 3pm Pirate FM’s Johnny Cowling and Lucy Start will be broadcasting out and about in Truro, building to the much-anticipated switch-on.

There will be special entertainment from 5pm on the stage in Boscawen Street.

At 7pm Truro’s Christmas Lights will be switched on by Johnny Cowling, Lucy Start, Truro’s Town Crier and cast members from Hall for Cornwall’s Christmas Show Treasure Island.

Following the switch-on, there will be a celebratory parade around Truro featuring performers, music and, of course, Father Christmas in his sleigh.

Elsewhere in the city, The Big Festive Shop Small Market, hosted by Duchy Fairs, will be on Lemon Quay all day and until 9pm giving opportunities to shop for season gifts from over 60 local traders.

Festive Friday is being brought to the city by Truro BID, in partnership with Truro City Council and Pirate FM.

Truro’s Christmas Lights are funded and installed by Truro BID each year, thanks to the 380 or so Truro Businesses who pay the BID levy.
