Track upgrade work will affect trains between Gloucester and Stroud or Yate.

Train services will still run between London Paddington/Swindon and Stroud on Saturday 3 May and the bank holiday Monday (5 May).

These services will not run on Sunday 4 May, or on the weekend of 10/11 May.

Trains will still run between Gloucester and Worcester on all dates.

CrossCountry trains will use an alternative route between Cheltenham Spa and Bristol Parkway – stopping additionally at Gloucester and Newport.

CrossCountry trains to/from Cardiff Central, plus Transport for Wales train services between Cheltenham Spa/Gloucester and South Wales are unaffected.

Replacement buses are planned between:

• Gloucester and Stroud (Sat 3 and Mon 5 May)
• Cheltenham Spa/Gloucester and Swindon (Sun 4 May, plus weekend of 10/11 May)
• Gloucester and Bristol Parkway (Sat 3, Mon 5 and Sat 10 May)
• Gloucester and Bristol Temple Meads (Sun 4 and Sun 11 May)

As an alternative, valid rail tickets can also be used to travel on the following local buses instead:

Track maintenance will affect train services via Cheltenham Spa or Ashchurch for Tewkesbury stations.

Trains will run between London Paddington or Swindon and Gloucester instead of Cheltenham Spa.

Trains between London Paddington and Worcester, Great Malvern or Hereford via Worcestershire Parkway will be unaffected on Saturday 17 May.

However, these services will be affected by track work at Worcester Shrub Hill on Sunday 18 May (see separate entry below).

GWR trains will also be running between Bristol Temple Meads and Gloucester.

CrossCountry services will run between Plymouth and Gloucester, plus between Bromsgrove and Birmingham New Street.

Transport for Wales train services will run between Cardiff Central and Gloucester instead of Cheltenham Spa.

Replacement buses are planned between:

• Gloucester and Cheltenham Spa
• Gloucester and Worcester Foregate Street
• Gloucester and Birmingham New Street (non-stop)
• Cheltenham Spa and Bromsgrove (via Worcestershire Parkway)

Track maintenance will affect train services via Worcester Shrub Hill until around 1700.

Trains will run between London Paddington and Worcestershire Parkway only until 1645.

Replacement buses are planned between Worcestershire Parkway and Great Malvern.

West Midlands Railway services will still be running between Worcester Foregate Street and Hereford.

This engineering work is in addition to track work affecting trains between Gloucester and Worcester on the weekend of 17/18 May.

Sunday 1 June

Track maintenance work will affect trains between Reading and Guildford.

Replacement buses are planned between stations affected.

Train services will still run between Guildford and Gatwick Airport.

Sunday 8 June

Track maintenance work will affect trains between Guildford and Gatwick Airport.

Replacement buses are planned between stations affected.

Train services will still run between Reading and Guildford.

Engineering work will affect trains between Southampton Central and Portsmouth Harbour.

Monday 9 to Saturday 14 June, Monday 16 to Friday 20 June, plus Sunday 29 June

Customers travelling between Bristol and South Wales can change at Gloucester or Cheltenham Spa, where trains will still be running to/from South Wales.

Trains between London and South Wales will use an alternative route between Swindon and Newport – stopping at Gloucester instead of Bristol Parkway.

A limited train service will still run between London Paddington and Bristol Parkway.

Train services will also be impacted in a similar on Sunday 29 June until around 1600.

Sunday 15 June

GWR trains will run between London Paddington and Bristol Parkway, plus between Newport and Swansea or Carmarthen.

Replacement buses are planned to operate between Bristol Parkway and Newport/Cardiff Central.

Trains between Cardiff Central and Bridgend will use an alternative route – extending journey times by around 30 minutes.

Tunnel drainage work will affect train services between Swindon and Bristol Parkway.

Trains between London and South Wales will use an alternative route between Swindon and Bristol Parkway – extending journey times by around 30 minutes.

Additional peak-time train services are planned between London Paddington and Swindon.

Sunday 20 July

Train services for South Wales will be diverted via Gloucester, not stopping at Bristol Parkway, until around 1600 – extending journey times by around 60 minutes.

Some trains between Bristol Parkway and London Paddington will use an alternative route between Bristol Parkway and Swindon – extending journey times by around 30 minutes.

As an alternative, customers can still travel via Bristol Temple Meads during this period.

Track renewal and maintenance work will affect train services via the Severn Tunnel until midday, plus drainage work is also planned between Swindon and Bristol Parkway.

Trains between London and South Wales will use an alternative route between Swindon and Newport – stopping at Gloucester instead of Bristol Parkway until around 1600.

Trains between Cardiff Central and Portsmouth Harbour or Exeter St Davids will start/terminate at Bristol Parkway instead of Cardiff Central until around 1130.

Replacement buses are planned between Bristol Parkway and Newport.

Trains between London Paddington/Swindon and Cheltenham Spa, plus trains between Bristol Temple Meads and Worcester will not stop at Gloucester.

Replacement buses are planned to operate between Gloucester and Cheltenham Spa.

Important to note

The route between Gloucester and Chepstow via Lydney will also be closed for engineering work from Sunday 27 July to Sunday 17 August.

This work will impact Transport for Wales and CrossCountry services for South Wales – replacement buses are planned to operate instead.

Track renewal work will affect trains between Twyford and Henley-on-Thames.

Replacement buses are planned between Twyford and Shiplake via Henley-on-Thames.

As an alternative, valid rail tickets will be accepted for travel on the number 850 Carousel bus service operating between Twyford and Henley.

Season tickets for the Henley branch will also be valid for journeys on the line between Marlow and Maidenhead instead during this period.
